In 1931, Veola and friend, Myrtle Wilkinson, opened Madame Queen Beauty Shop in Marion, NC. Sometom before 1942 that was changed to the May Day Beauty Shoppe. May Day was spunky and would let fly what she had to say. This made her a fun part of any event. She never married and did not have any children.
