An early 1900’s chain letter
Everyone has received a chain email. It always follows the same template. Something along the lines of, forward this email to 10 people or else the chain is broken and calamity will befall you.
Amongst the Price papers my father had was a suprising letter mailed to my great grandfather, Edgar Jasper Price, in 1904. I never even considered that a chain letter would have been a thing pre-email, but alas, I was proven wrong. The intent of the letter is respectful, honestly. Granted, it does not outright predict the receivers doomsday if it’s not forwarded. It does, however, have an underlying condition of judgement should it not.
Amazing that Edgar was the 590th person to receive this chain letter!
