Edgar & Carrie began their lives as a family, marrying December 19, 1900 at the home of her parents in Steele Creek, Mecklenburg, NC. They took up residence on Shopton Rd where they remained and raised their family of 4 children. Edgar or EJ was a farmer who was active in his local community as was Carrie. Carrie was engaged in The Embroidery Circle in Steele Creek. Edgar acted as a school commissioner for the Steele Creek Township District No. 5 - Shopton. Around 1929, their cottage was destroyed by fire and eventually had to rebuild.
Edgar was the youngest born to Isaac Jasper and Cynthia Hannah Knox Price.

Carrie was a very popular young woman. Her name was regularly found in the local social section of the papers having been given a party, attending a gathering, or joining in on an outing to the country. She was also engaged in The Embroirdery Circle in Steele Creek.

C. W. Cathey was Carrie’s only sibling, Calvin Wilson Cathey. He married Della Mae Caldwell and they had 4 children; Annie Blair Cathey, Helen Inez Cathey, Frank Caldwell Cathey, and Ralph Victor Cathey.
